Set amidst the beautiful and unique Somerset Moors, renowned for its wetlands and wildlife, the village of Godney (God's Isle) stands along the banks of the River Sheppey. This is an ancient and fragile landscape steeped in history, archaeology and wildlife. It is central to four National Nature Reserves in a wetland area of international importance and is part of the National Cycle Network. Examples of wildlife commonly seen in the area include buzzard, roe deer, lapwing, otter, grey heron, barn owl, great white egret, kingfisher, marsh harrier, swallow, starling, fieldfare and nesting swans.
